Award Recognizes “Real People Doing Real Things” to Build Stronger Communities

Albany, NY (November 7, 2025) – Trustco Bank, New York’s Home Town Bank, is honored to announce the latest Home Town Hero inductees to the Bank’s Hall of Fame which “Recognizes Real People Doing Real Things” to improve the lives of their neighbors with an eye toward building stronger communities. This year’s inductees include the late Judge Floyd J. Reinhart, Father Richard Carlino, and Carver Laraway.

Trustco Bank President, Chairman, and CEO, Robert J. McCormick, said, “As New York’s Home Town Bank we are committed to supporting those who are dedicated to improving their communities and changing lives. This year’s Trustco Bank Home Town Heroes include honorees who served their neighbors by providing educational opportunities, creating jobs through construction and operation of critical infrastructure, and tending to the spiritual needs of those in their most challenging hours. All have given tirelessly of themselves and clearly demonstrated that acts of kindness, no matter the size, can make a real difference in the lives of others.”

Home Town Heroes receive a plaque honoring their service to community, their name on the Home Town Hero Memorial proudly displayed at Trustco Bank’s headquarters, and a $2,500 donation to the charitable cause of their choice. This year’s honorees have earmarked their Trustco Bank donation to the following causes. Judge Floyd J. Reinhart’s donation was made posthumously in his honor to his namesake “The Floyd J. Reinhart Scholarship” fund. Father Richard Carlino’s donation was directed to St. Anthony’s Church, and Carver Laraway’s donation will go to support St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Judge Floyd J. Reinhart was a true example of a 20th century Renaissance man in upstate New York. Judge Reinhart’s professional career as a farmer, hotel proprietor, lawyer, and surrogate judge left him with a broad understanding of his neighbors from all walks of life and inspired his efforts to provide them with opportunities otherwise not available. From creating equestrian programs to teach youth to ride confidently, to creating and endowing the “The Floyd J. Reinhart Memorial Scholarship” awarded to graduating seniors from Canajoharie, Fort Plain or Oppenheim Ephratah-St. Johnsonville High School, Judge Reinhart saw needs amongst his neighbors and sought to fill them.

Father Richard Carlino has served the parishioners of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany for almost a half century. His pastoral work has taken him to parishes in Clifton Park, Rotterdam, and Schenectady where he has served as pastor since 2002. He also served as the Associate Pastor of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany as well as the Chaplain of Albany Medical Center. During Father Carlino’s pastorate, St. John the Evangelist has seen an expansion of its parishioners at a time when many congregations across the nation have seen decreases. Father Carlino was awarded the ‘COVID Super Hero Award’ from Ellis Hospital in 2021 for his administration of the blessed sacraments to the sick during the pandemic without regard to personal risk.

Founder and Chairman of the Carver Companies, Carver Laraway, has dedicated his professional career to creating opportunity through the development of vital infrastructure projects throughout the Capital Region and beyond. For more than 30 years The Carver Companies have sought to restore, renew, and reface the canvas in both land and water throughout New York and the world with such notable projects as creating a deep water port at the Port of Coeymans which serves as a staging area for large-scale construction projects such as the replacement of the Tappan Zee Bridge, along with operating port facilities in Staten Island, New York; Charlestown, South Carolina; and New Brunswick, Canada. The recent relocation of their headquarters from the Port of Coeymans to Albany underscores the Carver Companies’ growth and leadership role in maritime port operations.

McCormick concluded, “We are incredibly proud of this year’s inductees to Trustco Bank’s Hall of Fame and are privileged to honor these Home Town Heroes for the sacrifices they have made, and continue to make, on behalf of our communities. From providing spiritual strength, to making college dreams possible, to creating good paying jobs that provide the financial security needed to raise families and provide opportunity, the work of our Home Town Heroes are pieces of a larger puzzle that when combined foster and sustain a strong and vibrant community.”
