General Banking FAQ's
Q. When was Trustco Bank founded?
A. Trustco Bank was founded in Schenectady, New York in 1902 and is now headquartered in Glenville, New York. Trustco has over 130 branches spread among New York, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Vermont.
Q. What does FDIC insured mean?
A. Deposits at Trustco Bank are insured by the FDIC up to the maximum amount allowed by law. Until at least December 31, 2013, the basic insurance amount is $250,000 per depositor per insured bank. However, until at least December 31, 2009, all non-interest-earning transaction accounts are fully insured by the FDIC for the entire balance in the account. Insurance coverage for certain retirement accounts, including IRA deposit accounts, was permanently increased to $250,000 per depositor per insured bank in 2006. Deposits maintained in different categories of legal ownership at the same bank can be separately insured. Therefore, it is possible to have deposits of more than $250,000 at one insured bank and still be fully insured. To determine if your specific deposits are fully insured, please visit the FDIC’s website at www.fdic.gov and click on “EDIE the Estimator.”
